WATER TANKS IN NEW YORK
The Aldo Morelato Foundation patronages the water tanks exhibition in New York
Another important event, which involves the Aldo Morelato Foundation,
regards the patronage of the exhibition “Water tanks in New York”
, a photo exhibition by Gianmaria Colognese
in Udine at the Visionario center, from 16 September to 16 October 2016.
The cooperation between the artist from the Verona area and the Foundation started in 1990 with the project for 2 pieces, today exhibited at the MAAM, Museum for Applied Art in the Furniture Field.
In 2014, the cooperation intensifies with a solo exhibition of Colognese; “Bauhaus”, a collection of different pieces made of wood, glass, steel and ceramics, held at Palazzo Taidelli in Sanguinetto (VR), the showroom of the Morelato Company.
The eclectic artists, who loves to wander from art to architecture through design, in “Water tanks in New York”, explores the dimension of photography. Colognese immortalized the water tanks, placed on top of the roofs in “the Big Apple”.
Very bulky objects which, however, tend to escape the gaze, are now reinterpreted in a completely original way "almost like in an bsession [...] - argues Bruno Bandini, curator of the exhibition - because those images are a kind of compensation in respect of what we usually do not observe: look but do not see. In this invented and fascinating city it is far too easy, and almost predictable, to undergo the giddiness of appearances. "
With this sponsorship, the Aldo Morelato Foundation confirms its role as promoter of projects, activities and cultural events related to the Verona area, where Gianmaria Colognese was born and works.
The exhibition is open to the public from 16 September to 16 October 2016 (vernissage Friday, September 16 at 6.00 p.m.). It is located at the Visionario center for visual arts in Udine, in via Fabio Asquini 33, in the Media Library Mario Quargnolo.
